ARC: WAI Write-In Spring 2023 Series

Join the ARC Fellows for a biweekly Write-In Series consisting of 6 sessions this spring, each focused on a specific writing skill relevant to achieving WAI learning objectives. These Write-Ins offer a warm and collective space for you to work on assignments with friends and receive support on any questions you may have about writing for WAI. Bubble tea will be provided at each session!

#1 WAI Write-In: Analysis of Rhetorical Strategies

The first WAI Write-In will be a productive hour to work on WAI assignments. Writing and Speaking Fellows Jo Gao and Jenna Beales will share useful ways to analyze a text since analysis is a focus of WAI.

Spring 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium: Submit Your Applications!

The Spring 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium provides you with a platform to share your exciting research achievements, scholarly and creative projects with the community on the new campus and an opportunity to polish your poster design and presentation skills!

All capstone projects, DURF projects, research projects from courses, Dean’s Service Scholars (DSS), Study Away programs, and other research done under faculty guidance at NYU Shanghai are welcome! Immersive Learning Day Trip: Ecology and New Villagers in Rural Shanghai

Saturday, March 4 | Cenbu Village | Trip Itinerary (A 200 CNY co-pay is required)

Would you like to experience a rural oasis within the city limits of Shanghai? Located on the western edge of Shanghai in Qingpu District, Cenbu Village has beautiful natural scenery and waterways. We will go on a guided ecology tour followed by free time to explore the village. The day will end with kayaking along the village canals.

City Walk: The Last Kings of Old Shanghai

Friday, March 3 | 2-5 PM
Meet at Tiantong Road Metro Station, Exit 3 (Open to students only)

Brought to you by the Office for Community Engaged Learning, this walk traces the epic story of two family dynasties, the Sassoons and Kadoories, whose wealth and influence vastly shaped urban Shanghai’s landscape for more than a century. We will explore their legacy through stories of innovation, generosity, turmoil, and architecture, including visiting the interiors of some iconic buildings!

There is no cost for this event but participants are required to submit a brief reflection journal post-walk and have a chance to participate in two more city walks this semester. RSVP by Wednesday, March 1!

Honors Application Development Program

Eligibility: Juniors; GPA of 3.7 or above; Experience with research, leadership and/or service, and a desire to connect academics to impact.

We are starting up an honors cohort for juniors to begin preparing applications for major scholarships and fellowships in a challenging, supportive peer group. Participants will meet bi-weekly from March 15 to May 15, creating and revising an application portfolio while digging deeper into what motivates you. Depending on your locations, we will design a mix of Zoom, hybrid, and in-person elements in Shanghai or New York. Submit your application by March 1!

Yale Silver Scholars: Application & Fee Waivers

Application deadline: Tuesday, April 11

Earn a Yale MBA degree within three years of graduation through the Silver Scholars Program at the Yale School of Management. Candidates from all majors are welcome to apply, including seniors in the current Round 3 of admissions. If you are nominated by a faculty/staff member, your application fee to the MBA program will be waived.

Upcoming events include a multi-school panel (HBS, MIT, and Yale SOM) on March 8, admissions Q&As on March 17 and April 5, and a round 3 application workshop on March 28. IT Resources

The computer labs provide a foundational understanding of frequently used applications like Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite. The labs will also offer access to academic software applications like Matlab, SPSS, and Mathematica. You are welcome to utilize the facilities located at EB121 for Windows computers and EB123 for Macs.
